WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN COLLEGE - RESEARCH CENTER
Buckhannon WV
Arctecon was pleased to be selected for the new science building at West Virginia Wesleyan College. The College’s 1960’s era building did not have the capacity to accommodate today’s research needs, so they created this project with the goal of giving their graduate students and faculty a state-of-the-art facility to pursue more research.
The new David E. Reemsnyder Research Center expands and updates the campus’ scientific capabilities.
The Center attaches to the Christopher Hall of Science, the former science education building, via a sunny two-story walkway. The Neo-Georgian design, while bold and new, fits well with the surrounding campus with its brick façade, clean lines and white trim - with some very modern details.
Arctecon also completed Fleming Hall, the campus’ new dormitory.
West Virginia Wesleyan College was founded in 1890 by the West Virginia Annual Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. This campus established a learning center in the then-young state that would reflect the values of the Methodist community, meet the church’s need for an educated leadership, and provide an educational resource for the general citizenry of the state and region. Today the school educates about 1200 students each year.
The project cost $8 million is will be completed in August, 2009. |
